1985 Topps Football Lot Dan Marino #314 Joe Montana #157 Passing Leaders #192 Super Bowl XIX

Three cards from the 1985 Topps set that capture one of the greatest seasons and matchups in NFL history — sold together as a lot.

The 1984 season belonged to two quarterbacks. Dan Marino, in only his second year, threw 48 touchdowns and shattered the previous record of 36, became the first quarterback ever to pass for over 5,000 yards in a season, and was named league MVP. Joe Montana led the 49ers to a 15-1 record with 3,630 yards and a 102.9 passer rating, better than the next NFC quarterback by more than ten points. They met in Super Bowl XIX, where San Francisco beat Miami 38-16 — Marino's only trip to a Super Bowl.

This lot includes both players' individual cards from that year plus the "1984 NFL Passing Leaders" card that pairs them side by side, Marino as the AFC leader at 108.9 and Montana as the NFC leader at 102.9.
